Yes, it is IMAP, buut that is what I want.

I can understand that; it would be my preference too.

Your explanation is clear to me about the difference between IMAP and POP, but I was given to understand from the person who posted the above suggestion that it would do just that...allow you to see a combined inbox. And IF it is so for Windows, my point is that I do NOT see that option
in my setup. So I am still confused about that.

As far as I can see, the option to choose where to download mail to is only available for POP, not IMAP. I assume that would be the same on all OSs. Since you're using an IMAP, not POP, server, that's probably why you don't see that option.

You other suggestion is worth exploring, and I will consider that, but i first want
to confirm if the suggested solution above for"Global
Inbox (Local Folders). is conrrect for Windows but not for Mac.

I suspect it's correct for POP servers, but not IMAP, regardless of OS.

For the record, what I want to see is what OSX Mail already does:

https://www.evernote.com/l/AQq11b-PI_5JibeGQ4dA1D1xOq12TNu8UtM

I don't know of a way of doing that, other than by manually configuring the folder for POP accounts or using filters. But I've never thought of trying to do that, so haven't really looked.

A quick search came up with <http://kb.mozillazine.org/Global_Inbox#Alternative_solutions> which suggests a couple more possibilities...

It looks like Thunderbird may have a "Unified Folders" view which from the descriptions looks similar to what you show for OSX Mail. Unfortunately I can't see that option in SeaMonkey, but it may be worth looking to see if there's an extension to do it.

Another idea, described under "Virtual Folder" at that link, is to use saved searches to produce a similar effect. It looks like you should be able to create a set of saved searches, each of which returns the mail from one account's inbox, and put all the saved searches in a single folder (probably somewhere under Local Folders). The dialog to create saved searches is broken in SeaMonkey 2.39, but looks like it should be fixed in 2.40 <https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1226048>.

I haven't actually tried either of these - just a couple more ideas for the mix.
