Are you using any addons? I found adblock plus was memory greedy.
Just disabled Adblock Plus. Usage went down to 364,000.
Try uBlock Origin extension (https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock) and less
ad filters and subscriptions. My SM can go over 1 GB of RAM on some web
sites with multiple tabs. :(
