Do you recommend entering the donation twice, once for the organization
and once for the person? Or just for the organization with a reference
to the person? I'm wondering this because I can't decide which
information I need most (the donation attached to the person or to the
org) and don't want to double count total donations. (Double entries
would mean that YTD$ info and reporting are incorrect.)
I've considered adding a Matching Gift check box field and a pop-up
field that let's you enter the donor's name in the Payment Entry screen
(and perhaps the Payment screen) which could then be used in a report
for matching gift giving. This could probably be summarized by member
or in other ways to show total giving attributable to a member, etc.,
but there would be no summaries on the Home screen fast find fields for
the member.
Also, is there a way to create a "Fast Find" field for an individual
that summarizes YTD$ plus any payment records entered under a matching
organization but associated with that member's name record? It sounds
like a difficult calculation to write, but I'm somewhat new at
customizations.
Our matching gifts are currently small but I hope they will increase in
the future and I'd like to figure out a solution before I enter too many
matching gifts. Any suggestions you (or anyone else out there) can
provide would be helpful.
