It sounds as if one of the files related to names in which records
are created when you add a names record (Custom, Profile, and
Summary) are damaged and need to be recovered.

In this paragraph do you mean "record" when you are saying "files" A
file is a collection of records. For example, The information you
have in ebase about a particular person is kept in a record in the
names file, donation info is kept in a related record in the payments
file, etc. If you have lost perhaps 80 records, and have the
paperwork from which to re-enter them, there is no question you
should toss the damages files, revert to your most recent backup, and
re-enter the lost records. You will encounter way too much grief with
scrambled and uncertain data with any other path.
