The backup is done with a dos batch file and I am quite sure it wouldn't
delete a file or overlay it. We have never done a restore so that is not the
culprit. On the otherhand we have 4 or 5 people in the office who are very
novice users and it is hard to guess at what they might have done
accidentally. There is a possibility that a backup was done while the server
was still running, but I think that only results in a corrupted backup file.
However it is possible to delete a file from within (sort of) FMP at least
on Windows. Click on open, select a file, hit the delete key. There are
right click menus also that avoid the keyboard. Is the open file dialog
within FMP? I guess it depends on your definition. I have never tried the
Send Message script command but it looks like it would allow deletion also.
I eagerly await your solution. If not, we only have about 66 households so I
think we can just redo them in a few hours.
