In a nutshell... <sarcasm> Hi I'm a router! I just got a packet destined for a remote host. I know that my next hop is 192.168.1.1. OK... lets look in my system routing table to see how to get a packet to 192.168.1.1... Network Mask Interface Metric 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 dc0 10 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 dc1 10 Uhhh... that's confusing. I have two routes to get to the same destination and they both have the same priority(metric value). GAH! I'll just drop the packet or hold onto it for a bit and not do anything since I don't know how to get the packet where it's going. </sarcasm> :-) --Tim --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: support-unsubscr...@pfsense.com For additional commands, e-mail: support-h...@pfsense.com Commercial support available - https://portal.pfsense.org
