I agree. Which is why the FB group should be held to be a place where trivial things are talked about, and then whence serious discussions are thrown here.

The point is that people seldom find this list even if they are interested in the field. It's better to have a public, lighter toned, discussion area between what happens in social media and this list, than nothing at all. A sort of a buffer/staging area, rather than a "potential barrier".
