Well I had my doubts later after I wrote about using a programmable
calculator, as I wondered if they actually have a speaker, and
ofcourse I forgot about how it would receeve the sound...BUT...maybe
there is some programmable calculator or SOMETHING which has a serial
interface that can be wired into a modem (PCMCIA preferrably) and
Bob's your uncle...quite a few kilobytes of memory later and you'd
have a tcpip stack (that would require quite a few late nights I'd
say). But the PCMCIA would have a fair current draw I'd think...

Even being able to plug it into a modem would probably be a world
first ;-)

the ultimate setup like I thought about before would be a device that
had a speaker AND a microphone on an adjustable wire so you could hold
it on the telephone hand piece, or even plug into the hands free plug
in your mobile phone...

or you couuld just buy a mobile phone that does email :)
