Well, I have two candidates I can look at: a Casio CFX-9400G (or is it 9600?)
tri-colour graphical scientific programmable calculator that I bought because
someone cracked my older (ie more user-friendly) model - this has a funny
serial port that you can use to hook up to another Casio calculator, a PC
running some Casio software, or a Casio label printer - I don't think it's
RS232C compatible, but maybe a line-level converter could help with that. The
other machine I have is an old Canon Canola programmable calculator (it's got a
bigger footprint than an original IBM PC case and chews watts like it's
nobody's business) that has an 'Electric Typewriter' interface (I assume it'll
hook up to something like a Selectrix to print) and a 'Serial' interface -
maybe RS232C (or 414?) The Canon is mains-powered so current drain isn't a
problem, but the Casio runs off four AAA cells, so the modem would need a
separate power supply. However, both of these machines suffer from the problem
that the programming languages they use are absolute SOBs to work with.
Maybe when I get my Psion Organiser II fixed I could hook that up to a Linux
box and look at mail/browsing/telnetting with it.

Nah... you can get Casio modems for my calculator IIRC - to let you dial-up to
a PC running Casio backup software from what I can gather. My Canola has an
expansion slot that might be used to hold a modem I s'pose.
>or you couuld just buy a mobile phone that does email :)
You mean spend money on something you can have more fun (hey, I have no social
life here guys) doing yourself? ;)
