Hi Karen, I received your other post. You seem to be talking about a
drive overlay software. This is used when the Bios do not offer any
support for large drives, no LBA translation for instance. The
alternative then is instead to install a drive overlay software to
handle all translations. Consider this a map required by your
computer to find its way around the physical disk. A drive overlay
software will provide such a map, and it will be transparent both
for you and your software. In short, when properly installed you
will not notice it. There are at least two versions or brands if you
like, one is called DM - short for Disk Manager, the other Ezdrive.
In your other message you said:

So the person who installed the disk either installed the overlay
software, or he just copied it to your harddisk and left it there
for later installation? To rule out the first, do you still get the
same errors when your run NDD? If so then what he said probably
meant he just copied it to your harddisk somewhere, did not install
it as such (did not make it active), and you will need to find it
and copy it to floppies. At least I think so, that it requires you
install it from floppies
As to how to proceed installing a drive overlay software, if and
when you need to input any information during the install and so on,
I am sorry but I can not say. I have never installed nor seen any
drive overlay software my self. Hope others here have, and can
offer some input. But to hope for this kind of input from anyone,
you need to be more specific, like name of the overlay software you
intend to use.
All the best,
Bjorn
