For that matter, anything BUT Windows would work fine in many cases! It's
darned hard to FIND a 286 for much less than a Pentium class machine these
days -- at least in many markets -- but substitute "low end hardware" and
the issues are the same.

Those same issues are faced by anybody advocating anything BUT Windows it
seems. Whether one favors Linux, BSD, Solaris, DOS, Mac or even NetWare, the
general public seems to think "Windows" when it comes to computers.

Microsoft has always benefitted by the squabbling that goes on between
providers of alternatives. The Unix wars of the 1990's are a prime example.
That extends to others as well. When things get to the little guys slamming
the other little guys, the only one left standing is usually Microsoft.
