Hmm...  ISTR OpenDOS 7 (now DR-DOS 7) does have a HIMEM.SYS, but it's only
used on pre-386 machines (i.e. those that can't run EMM386.EXE).  I used it
on my old 286s under OpenDOS 7.01.  Until the hard drives decided to die
within a couple of months of each other, but that's a whole other story.
But you're quite right in that HIMEM.SYS isn't required on a 386 under
DR-DOS, of course.
