Hello everybody,

yapp, this is a long thread. I entirely agree with Michael. Securety
*is* an issue. We must be aware of it, no matter wether it realy counts
or not. I "su" a lot from my xterms to alter / view the nonpublic
conf-files, kill restart deamons when experimenting.
I do not know wether sudo would help me in every case. I did use sudo in
the pre KDE days to shut down as a "user".

For those that read more than the occasional man page, here is the first
"read a book" suggestion of the year:

Cliffort Stoll,
The Cuckoo's Egg. Inside the world of Computer Espionage.
Publisher: Doubleday, New York.

It's about the german hackers that went for seesighting tours through
the old arpanet in the mid 80's. Cliff tried to follow them back from a
65 cents difference in two parallel running accounting systems on his
machine. If you want to get a "feeling" for securety, read it.
