Transparent backgrounds for what?
kfm - can set background pixmap
kvt - no can do
konsole - new kde xterm - pixmapped backgrounds, no transparency
eterm - yes, must set root with Esetroot and mess with imlib
aterm & wterm - basically rxvt rewritten for Afterstep / Window Maker,
like eterm was for E.
