I recommend xfce.
Pro: small, fast, uses low RAM, easy to install, VERY
CONFIGURABLE.
Con: No kill option on root window menu - nothing an xterm
won't fix.
I found KDE 1.0 would fill 128MB RAM and 64MB swap in 4
days, forcing
a reboot to clear it out. I changed out wm, still using same
apps,
and am having no problems.
