Hello:
I'm pretty much a newbie with Linux and need some help getting my
Crystal CS4232 sound card to work. I'm running SuSE 6.0, with kernel
2.2.2. I recompiled the kernel last night to be absolutely sure I had
included support for the sound card. I have followed the instructions
in the SuSE manual and run pnpdump and then edited isapnp.conf choosing
the same options for both the modem (Motorola PnP) and the sound card
that worked under Win 95. (The modem works fine with Linux.) When I
ran:
/sbin/isapnp /etc/isapnp.conf
I got the following output (slightly abridged):
ModemSURFR 56K enabled OK
CSC4232 {WSS/SB}: enabled OK
CSC4232 {Game }: enabled OK
CSC4232 {MPU }: enabled OK
Then when I ran: cat /dev/sndstat I got:
"Operation not supported by device."
Can anyone suggest what I might do next?
Thanks, George
