That is what I have and I have no major problems. However, if possible
download some of the updates from the web site and apply them as soon as
possible. The one place that I had some trouble with that was partitioning
with YaST. However, I found a workaround using my compy of System Comander.
There is another workaround on the SuSE web site.

Best of luck.

PS do not forget that 6.0 will be out in a few weeks (we hope)

Subject: [SuSE Linux] Question regarding ver.of SuSE Linux 5.3

I'm new to Linux and have been reading/lurking for some time but
now am ready to do it [the first install].

I've had my S.u.S.E. Linux 5.3 for about six months now. The date
on the ends of the case of CD disks is July 1998.

Is this this buggy edition from the early release, that was the talk of
the day a few months back? Is it OK to go with or should I try and
get a later release?

Help with this potentially aggravating problem is welcomed now.
Don't need extra difficulty if it can be avoided now. Thanks..
....
Ray
