Dear Pavel,

Thanks for this helpful response! Super support service!

I copied the Ubuntu kernel, initrd & /lib/modules/2.6.17-10-generic/...
onto Suse 10.2.
With a bit of fiddling I got it to start X (with a usb mouse rather than
the Touchpad) and found that:-

* s2ram -f -p -s works properly, with backlight on but some problems with X.

Adding:-

Options "VBERestore" "true" to the Device section of xorg.conf (Driver
"i810") makes it work perfectly.

Other s2ram options give:-

* s2ram -f -a 1     reboots
* s2ram -f -a 2 hard disk spins and LED stays on then everything freezes
* s2ram -f -a 3     reboots
* s2ram -f -p -m   resumes OK but black screen
* s2ram -f -p -s    resumes OK :-)
* s2ram -f -m hard disk spins and LED stays on then everything freezes
* s2ram -f -s hard disk spins and LED stays on then everything
freezes
* s2ram -f -p        resumes OK but black screen

No need for PCI config registers save/restore (at least I didn't do
anything about this).
SUSPEND_MODULES="button" in /etc/pm/config.

Maybe this machine doesn't work with the Suse 10.2 kernel for the same
reason as thread_id=31267289 (HP nx6125 on Suse 10.2)?

Do you think I should wait until Suse do a kernel update, or try to get
Suse 10.2 to work properly with kernel 2.6.17?

Is there any further information that you or others would find useful?

Thanks again

Andy
