The default options for s2ram (-s -p) don't work correctly on my system -- when it resumes, I get nothing at all on the text console and I get a huge mouse cursor that's just a square box of vertical lines if X (7.1.99) is running.
However, -s -m appears to work correctly (although -s -p -m doesn't!). It isn't perfect -- sometimes when it resumes the screen flickers badly. On the basis of a few tries, retrying it usually brings it back to life. The Radeon 9000 is an unusual configuration for the I8200 -- this is/was the top of the line graphics for this fine laptop. Most of these laptops have nVidia cards based on the geForce 2 or 4. It may well be that -s -p is the correct combination for those cards. BTW, the output of s2ram -i is: This machine can be identified by: sys_vendor = "Dell Computer Corporation" sys_product = "Inspiron 8200 " sys_version = "" bios_version = "A10" The output of lspci -vvvvv for the graphics card is: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon R250 [Mobility FireGL 9000] (rev 01) (prog-if 00 [VGA]) Subsystem: Dell Unknown device 00d4 Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop+ ParErr- Stepping+ SERR+ FastB2B- Status: Cap+ 66MHz+ UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- Latency: 32 (2000ns min), Cache Line Size: 32 bytes Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 11 Region 0: Memory at e0000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=128M] Region 1: I/O ports at c000 [size=256] Region 2: Memory at fcff0000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64K] Expansion ROM at fc000000 [disabled] [size=128K] Capabilities: [58] AGP version 2.0 Status: RQ=48 Iso- ArqSz=0 Cal=0 SBA+ ITACoh- GART64- HTrans- 64bit- FW+ AGP3- Rate=x1,x2,x4 Command: RQ=32 ArqSz=0 Cal=0 SBA+ AGP+ GART64- 64bit- FW- Rate=x4 Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 2 Flags: PMEClk- DSI- D1+ D2+ AuxCurrent=0mA PME(D0-,D1-,D2-,D3hot-,D3cold-) Status: D0 PME-Enable- DSel=0 DScale=0 PME- -- Robert Krawitz <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Tall Clubs International -- http://www.tall.org/ or 1-888-IM-TALL-2 Member of the League for Programming Freedom -- mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] Project lead for Gutenprint -- http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net "Linux doesn't dictate how I work, I dictate how Linux works." --Eric Crampton ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
