What I got is the following :
a) a colorfull screen and no suspend with
   - s2both
   - echo mem > /s/p/s

b) a successful suspend-to-ram with
   - s2ram
   -  some ioctl on /dev/pmu (through pbbuttonsd)

So Tim and Raphael, you are both right.
