No, that's not the purpose of that page at all, it's called "Do
diesels have a future?" It's largely but not entirely US-oriented,
but that's because it's pretty much only in the US that the question
exists.

The two are the same issue, and the status of the anti-diesel-bashing
effort is exactly nowhere, as we can see.

Dealing piecemeal with the immediate event is not going to achieve
much, essentially leaving someone in Kerry's position floundering
without a comeback and no support. And so a promising initiative that
perhaps could have achieved much gets nowhere, and for really bad
reasons. If Kerry's counting votes with an eye to the White House,
he'll be unlikely to try that again.

These people who oppose such initiatives take public money, a very
great deal of it, but they do the public a disservice. Kerry's case
was just such a disservice, perhaps rather a grave one. Their
argument is misguided and has no solid foundation, but they're loud,
and they're the talking heads the media go to for comment and
background.

Why don't you Americans do something about it?

We've started it here and identified what needs to be done. It's in
the archives. As I said I have the the groundwork on my hard disk,
good info, contacts, I'll forward it all to anyone who asks. It's
against our interests at Handmade Projects to put the required time
into it, but if someone else prepares a good set of resources we'd be
happy to host it at Journey to Forever, which is a very findable
site. Other good sites would do the same I'm sure. Similarly, Ryan
Walker of Environmental Media Services (EMS), www.ems.org, is a
member of this list and is willing to help, if he's given the
resources. It could make a difference.

There are many possibilities. Some industry people have said they're
prepared to collaborate. DieselNet, International, Green Diesel
Technology, GM, would certainly be worth approaching. We could
provide a lot of resources and a central webspace to work. It needn't
be just one person's burden, a team of list members and others could
collaborate on it, contributing to a central resource as they may.
But it would need a coordinator, and that's not me.

So, once again, any takers?

Is anyone interested enough to discuss it?

Not sure what you mean by Yahoo's email switching around. I'm no fan
of Yahoo at all, but their delivery has been consistent. There was
some difficulty at first (well before these discussions) with
changing passwords to Yahoo to access the web board, but you get
individual emails, not the web interface, so I'm not sure what the
problem could have been.
