Workshop Announcement

On October 9-11, 2009, there will be a two-and one-half day workshop
presentation and discussion on the topic “Alcohol Can Be A Gas” at
Tompkins Cortland Community College located in Dryden, NY which is 15
miles northeast of Ithaca, NY. This workshop will be conducted by
permaculture and biofuel expert David Blume, the leading world-wide
advocate for the role of alcohol fuel production in helping foster
sustainable energy and food systems. Mr. Bloom believes such systems can
catalyze a true American energy independence recovery as well as
revitalization of our rural economy.

Mr. Bloom is the founder of the non-profit International Institute of
Ecological Agriculture (IIEA), a farmer, and author of the recently
expanded and updated book titled Alcohol Can Be A Gas which
contains a foreword by Buckminster Fuller. He recently spoke at the
American Corn Growers Association’s National Convention in Iowa and the
PacRim Biofuels Conference in Vancouver, B.C.

The goal of this two-day workshop is to immerse attendees into the field
of appropriate scale alcohol production and use. The era of cheap fuel is
over; the profitability of small scale alcohol production is
skyrocketing. This workshop is for:
· Farmers looking
for new, more profitable ways to use their land and save money on fuel
and mechanical costs.
· Anyone wanting to make
fuel for themselves or as a small business.
· Mechanics wanting to
make money converting cars to run on ethanol.
· Activists wanting to
start driver owned alcohol stations in their neighborhoods.
· Anyone who owns a high
performance/race vehicle that needs hi octane fuel.
· City and county
administrators and fleet owners wanting to save on fuel costs.
· Those seeking an
environmentally sound, economically attractive approach toward reversing
climate change.

· Those interested in a
model for producing many valuable agricultural products along with a
fuel, thus providing a boost to local economies across the
U.S. as well as around the world.

Through the networking opportunities it provides, this workshop will
become a catalyst for building small alcohol plants, organizing alcohol
filling stations, and converting our cars to run on clean burning
ethanol. The workshop will connect farmers with retail markets for the
alcohol they produce. Those looking to find their place in the
renewable energy boom will find many others to connect with to begin
establishing small scale ethanol infrastructure locally and eventually
nationwide. The cost of this workshop is $267.00 per person.
