I have found refuge in local college FM radio stations mostly and count myself
fortunate that there are sufficient of these in my area. (Princeton, Temple,
Burlington County, and UPenn) I can't forsake the radio experience and admit to
the emotional tie of detecting actual RF. Yes, program content is the actual
point but as long as there is something interesting to hear on real radio that
is where I will be listening. My recently acquired analog tuner is the best yet
- dial twiddling is a peculiar source of satisfaction but there it is.

This is a very personal choice. My professional life keeps me immersed in
computers and networks and I can't find the necessary degree of diversion
there. Silly? Perhaps. Maybe I'm just an old fashioned guy. I know you guys get
where I'm coming from.

--- Begin Message --- I'm using my laptop as my internet radio primarily because I may want access to the stations that Receiva and the proprietary formats don't carry.

That said, I'm somewhat frustrated with having to manage listening in different programs...some in iTunes, some via Quicktime, RealAudio, WMA etc.

I'm also waiting for the prices of the better radios to come down a tad more.

None that I know of. What is interesting, though, is that people who use Internet Radios tend to listen longer than people who listen on computers, from some of the wifi radio commentary I have read.

Having said that, I have a hand-me-down Linux machine in my home office that spends most of its time being an Internet radio (and a print server).

The critter I am purchasing will primarily be used as a "kitchen radio," though I might bring it into my work office from time to time.

Alright, I'll jump in and ask. Are there any streams you can get on these Internet radios that I cannot get from a computer that's connected to the Internet?
