Philo Agora's talk this Tuesday, November 17 is Hazel Popp Ethical Relativism
Relativism is the theory that we judge the morality of an action by
its cultural acceptance. Anthropologists point practices considered
morally acceptable in some societies but condemned in others, such as
infanticide, genocide, polygamy, racism, sexism, and torture. Such
differences may lead us to question whether there are any universal
moral principles or whether morality is merely a matter of "cultural taste."
Hazel is a Hospital Scientist, Manager of the Blood Bank at Royal
Prince Alfred Hospital and a founding member of Philo Agora
