I don't care what the default is, but I'd like to get rid of this annoying switch which doubles the amount of testing we should do. There's no reason to have it in the 0.7.0 release since it wasn't in 0.6.7.
Concerning polys12, I don't think it's a good idea to push it in without an actual review.
