Sounds like a good plan. Is the goal to target sync 1.1 (built, tested, 
deployed, in production) or sync 2.0 (built, tested, has new-auth, but never 
deployed)? 

Do we want to spend some (server-side) engineering effort to avoid an auth flag 
day with current sync?
