I use a Mac Plus running OS 6.8 and Eudora for email, and no longer worry
about downloading viruses with my mail. Also, the spam which comes is much
less offensive without the pictures and flashy graphics. True, it might be
good to be able to read html, but the people I really want to hear from
(friends and family) send plain text. If there's a picture or something I
really want to see, I can forward it to myself and pick it up on my other
machine. Yes, I do have another computer.
Sometimes I telnet to a remote server and use Lynx on their machine
to surf text-only. It works fine, and though a little slower than my cable
connection, it is surprisingly fast because Lynx doesn't bother with
graphics, and that includes most advertising.
I am glad to see that the System 6 Digest is still alive. I had
been wondering...
