I really haven't done any research on it, but I think System 6.0.8L was
used for computers like the Mac Classic II and the Color Classic, which
also had 68030 processors like the PowerBook 170.  That's why I asked.

I don't know if it was so much that those machines were underpowered for
System 7, but rather that I don't think System 7 was entirely ready when
the machines were released in certain markets.

Don't get me wrong: System 7.1 is great on the PowerBook, but I'm guessing
it would be 50% "snappier" using my fave, System 6!  :-)

It would be great if someone could do a modification...  [sigh]
