>From my calculations the 1977 South Eugene team ran ~23.4 meters further
than the South Lakes team of 2001. So... barring any really strange
conversion factors the South Lakes time is considerably better. I don't
have my Big Green Book in front of me. But 23.4 meters and 11 seconds don't
add up.

Subject: t-and-f: what's the best HS distance medley of all-time?

South Lakes 9:49.78 at the distance medley broke the 14-year-old HSR of
9:53.31 by McCullough.

However,. back in 1977 South Eugene ran a 10:01.6 when the legs were at
non-metric yard distances.

What's the conversion factor and which mark is intrinsically superior?
