Look in the TaFNews book "How They Train: Long Distances" circa 1981. It
has a profile of Wysocki in it. I believe he ran 4:00.xx, and a slightly
superior time for 1500m. His PRs (through 1981) are in there though.

John (and all)

For HS times in NV, yes, Wysocki isn't even close. But as far as the
fastest mile ever by a NV hs grad (which is the question), I'll bet he's
easily the fastest. With PR's of 28:19 and 13:35, he had to be capable of
**at least** sub 4:05 at the time (he was likely sub 4:20 in the first mile
of his 13:35). He's by far the most accomplished distance runner ever out
of Nevada. It's just a question if he ran a mile race or not in those
years. Heck, he probably did 6 x 1mi in the 4:20's for a workout.

Wysocki isn't even in the ballpark (4:23, 9:34), Terry Yberra ran 4:19
that year followed a year later by Larry DeLong (Wooster) in 4:19. At the
state meet in like 1980 Steve Lauri from Sparks won in 4:15. Brad Meyer
ran 4:10 I believe at Golden West one year (and 3:52 at GSW). If my
memory is good Ron Eller from Manogue (1965?) ran 4:12.8. Andre Woods
ran that 4:13 at state (1600?)
That's the best history off the top of my head.
