landuse=orchard uses a completely wrong tagging schema in my opinion.
The tags are in plural form as you said, but they are also not
generalisable. There is the tag trees=apple_trees, and
trees=berry_plants (don't know why that *-sign is on the wiki). But
what would you do with grapes? Would that be trees=grape_plants? Or
trees=grape_trees?

I certainly agree on that one.

The taxon key might be a better tag because it implies the scientific
naming (sort of). But there is no way this should be documented on the
wiki next to the species tag. Off coarse, the taxon wiki page should
also be updated so that taxon:en doesn't get used anymore.

So I would suggest to replace the "species" tag with the "taxon" tag,
without capitals or spaces and without localistation. And also use
"taxon" for orchards.

Any comments are welcome.
