A campsite number seems a direct analog to a house number. "Site 52, Evergreen Campground" is a form of address that in olden days a mailman might actually have delivered to. I don't see this as a rendering hack... it seems pretty clean to me.
But do place the node where the little number post is: that post is what you're actually mapping.
