Surely Peter's point (which I agree with) is that leisure and sport are two different things, and should not be seen as mutually exclusive or as competitors to each other. There are many sports which (can) take place in a (suitable) swimming pool (swimming, diving, water polo etc), but not all pools are suitable for any of them. Just laying in the water and cooling off can not really be called a sport. Sports have rules and governing bodies and things.
