I just read the recent post about replacing balenaEtcher with Rufus in the Windows
install guide. However, something struck me as odd. The post mentioned that "people
who install Tails from macOS represent less than 10% of installations nowadays."
My first question is simple. How exactly did Tails arrive at this figure
without telemetry?
We don't have a specific figure, but we're pretty sure it's not many,
based on:
- Tails doesn't work on recent Apple models at all (different
architecture)
- Tails had serious compatibility issues for previous apple models
- despite this, the amount of support requests we receive for Apple is
much less than what we get for other computers
