I would personally suggest OpenStreetMaps, that way other people could benefit from your hard work - they also have excellent tools to help you with entering the data. If you're a web developer you can use the tools on CloudMade to produce nice looking maps that incorporate your dataset. I sure would like to see that data for the Toronto area, but I'm not sure what I'd do with it to be honest.
