Hello, yes this is true, all Windows 7 users will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 free of charge. That being said, the idea that you should get Windows 7 just because the you think it will be easier to navigate is completely not true. As I have said on this subject. A number of times you can get programs which resolve this issue if it is a problem for you. The best program to get to resolve these navigation issues is classic Shell. This will allow you to have a windows XP style start menu or a Windows 7 style start menu, and it will allow you to take advantage of all the new features of Windows 8.1. If you get a program called old new Explorer. It will allow you to turn off the ribbon and to make a number of tweaks to the Windows Explorer that will make it look and feel like the Windows 7 Windows Explorer. Thus you will have all of the new features of Windows Explorer, and the interface you are familiar with and comfortable with. You will also be able to take advantage of Windows universal apps. One good example of this is Facebook, which is completely accessible. You will also have greater stability, greater security better built-in text-to-speech and a number of other features. The new user interface should not be a deterrent, because as I said these issues are quite easy to resolve if necessary. I hope this helps, and think you for reading.

It is easier to navigate than Win 8.1. And it is my understanding that all Wind 7 and Win 8.1 owners will get a free upgrade to Win 10 within the first year. There will be support for Win 7 through 2020. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rick Thomas via Talk" <talk@lists.window-eyes.com> To: "'Bud Schwab'" <budsch...@verizon.net>; "'Window-Eyes Discussion List'" <talk@lists.window-eyes.com> Sent: Thursday, February 26, 2015 5:24 AM Subject: RE: which version of windows should I get > Hi Bud: I run Windows 8.1 and WindowEyes 8.4 I think and can get around ok > for the most part. > This combo is a far cry from the ease and stability Windows XP, never used > Windows 7 so cant speak to that combo. > That said it works for the most part but then Windows 10 is coming out > soon. > It is tough to suggest something in the interm between Operating system > releases but if in a crunch get Windows 8.1 and I think you might get a > free > upgrade to Windows 10 when it is released - not sure so check it out. > Rick USA > > -----Original Message----- > From: Talk [mailto:talk-bounces+ofbgmail=mi.rr....@lists.window-eyes.com] > On > Behalf Of Bud Schwab via Talk > Sent: Wednesday, February 25, 2015 11:25 AM > To: windoweyes > Subject: which version of windows should I get > > Hi Gang, > > I am currently using windows 7 64 bit, but my computer is about to > fail on me and I am going to get a new one.
