Try this, gents. >From within IE, press Alt-T for tools, O for internet options. Shift tab to the tab controls and right arrow to the content tab. Tab to the first settings button. Typical of Microsoft, this button is only labeled as settings, but the name above it if you route the mouse there is autocomplete. When this settings page opens, you might be tempted to uncheck the first box (Use autocomplete in the address bar), tab to OK and press Enter. But wait.
The other check boxes are: Use autocomplete for Browsing history. Use autocomplete for favorites. Use autocomplete for use windows search for better results. Use autocomplete for suggesting URLs. If you uncheck the use autocomplete for address bar check box first, the above list of check boxes become disabled in whatever checked state they are in. So, the IE feature that is causing the problem might still be active.
