With no future development of Window-Eyes, that means window-eyes will never work with the Edge browser?

Vaughan,

NVDA and Window-Eyes both have a scripting facility. This makes them customizable to deal with changing developments in software. There are limits, of course, such that if text is not available to the screen reader, then scripting won't help. However, I do believe it is misleading to say that either of the two screen readers I mentioned above wil be unable to handle future developments. I think it depends on how much scripters are willing to invest in configuring them.

My guess is that things just come down to normal supply and demand. The customer demand has always been for JAWS. If there is no demand for a product, its business cannot grow. If it cannot grow, it cannot develop new products.

The old GW Micro was in financial trouble. To begin with - I thought the Office Deal was of dubious value. It sihgnaled that that paying customers were not meeting the cash flow requirements. And: whilst I was a fan of the SMA (I still have two counts) as a way of encouraging loyalty from indivivduals, the Office deal trashed that.

So: we are left with what we have - for all the moaning - Freedom Scientific ran a better business. We have three free screen readers - Narrator whose development is progressing, NVDA with a loyal user base, and which is still being developed, and Window-eyes. The free screen readers which continue to be developed will get user support. But: none of them truly jmeet the modern professional's need for sophistication and customisation.

Vaughan.

My question is why would a company pay for a company that only has one product "Window Eyes" then shut down the product.? ----- Original Message ----- From: Darrell Bowles via Talk

If the company had asked for a donation, I would have gladly given it.
