Hi,
Trouble with NVDA, is there are some really basic features missing.
For example, you can't turn off blank lines. Or stop them from saying blank
as you arrow down.
You can't turn off number processing, so everything speaks in words, not
digits.
Heck, you can't even label keys to say certain things.
I know it's free and all that, but considering it's developed by two blind
guys, there are some really basic bits missing here.

It will be known as one of the tragedies of the adaptive technology world
that such an elegant program as Window-Eyes ceased development while an
inferior one persisted.
I am coming to realize that Jaws, though given to me for free, will not be
the one I invest my time and money in.
The only consideration which influences me to pay for upgrades is the fact
that it is still uner development.
Then again, so are Narrator and NVDA.
I'm leaning towards NVDA, considering the fact that I must learn to write
apps.
Why would I bother forcing myself to work wit Jaws when it is such an
inferior product?
I'm learning, day by day, where the truth lies.

Hello Charles. I totally agree with you 100%. JAWS was always complicated
to change settings right from the beginning. Window-Eyes, as you said, made
it easier to do just that, change settings, etc, etc, etc. There are people
where I live who have never even heard of or tried Window-Eyes and many of
them have used JAWS from the start so those people really missed out on an
opportunity to use Window-Eyes.

Sory to bother you, but am I to understand you must do this for every key
you don't want to have it identify itself? Good god, this is way to
complicated than it needs to be. Is it possible that theese "people" may
implement some of the simplification we had? we made it easy to switch from
Jaws to we and went out of their way to assist, infact bent over backwards
to accomidate and listen to their customers and all everyone seemed to do is
complain. I hope those folks are enjoying the croe they are now feasting on.
I for one am very dissatisfied with Jaws, the attitude of a few vfo people
I've talked to, and really ticked that vfo is making me pay more to access
how ever many machines I own. I am not a whiner. Its just my tough luck that
I must pay dearly to have access to equiptment that my friends have for
free. I didn't mind paying for we because of the great tech support, the
reasonable fees and once it was paid for I could put it on as many boxes I
owned.
Sory for ranting, thanks for reading. What makes all this interesting is
Microsoft if they wished could make all this stuff accessible just like
Apple if they really wanted to!!!!

Press insert-6 to open settings center.
Press shift-control-d to load default.
In the search box type label
Arrow down to manage key labels dot dot dot and press space.
In the list press S until you get to shift.
Press alt-c to change the label.
Clear the word shift from the label and okay it.
Make sure you save your settings.
Now the word shift won't speak when doing things like shift-space.
Do the same for control and windows.
