Okay, I wasn't going to wway on this but the last two remarks have forced my
hand.
It is not easy for people to Get JAWS. Plane and simple, people can't get
JAWS, or any other blindness related equipment, unless the government helps
them get it. More often than not, and more and more, government agencies are
being restricted on what they are allowed to provide there clients. You tell
people to go get a job and stop asking for handouts? I'm currently dealing
with an EEOC case regarding a company that not only refused to provde me an
accomidation for using there computer with a screen reader, but after telling
me that I wasn't going to get the accomidation, I was promptly dismissed by
the company. You tell someone to get a job? How about giving instruction on
how you got your job in the first place. I've spent the entire summer looking
for jobs, and haven't been accepted to a single one. If it wasn't for the
part-time contract job that I have now, I wouldn't have one. So to the person
who made that comment about getting a job and stop asking for hando
uts, did you know that over 75 percent of persons with disabilities don't have
jobs, and that in the blindness community its over 80 percent?
Thanks,
Darrell
