The same is the case with E5. I would love to use the moticons but Talks does
not speak them and if I insert one Talks says I. If I knew the moticons from
left to right and line by line then I could use them. Anyone able to help on
this one please?

Subject: [Talks] Some more observations on the E72 symbol table

Hi all,

a while ago, I experimented a bit with the symbol table on the E72 and
perhaps come across a detail that could explain why some people here
think it doesn't work for them, while it works for others (all with
TALKS 5.21):
On the E72 with firmware 71, the symbol table indeed says "1 slash 2
window" when it is opened. However, it is important to know that the
first page that opens is the one for emoticons, and the focus is on the
upper left entry, which switches to the "real" symbol list.
So pressing [Select] once should open the "real" symbol table. Here, the
entry in the upper left is again the one the switches back to the
emoticons - confusingly, TALKS reads it as "backslash", taking the name
of the next entry to the right. Anyway, on this second table you can
navigate just as before, and in my testing this works just fine.

One user reports that there might be an even easier way to switch
between the tables: "On my e72 you can get the symbol table working
correctly, when firstly pressing [Edit] key and [Chr] secondly. Then all
characters will be read correctly." - on my E52, the [*] key can be used
to switch between tables.

It would be interesting whether there are any E72 users who still can't
get the symbol table to work with all of these methods, as this could
indicate that there are still variants that need addressing separately
(perhaps depending on skin, branding, language etc.).

Thanks.

ciao marcus
