If primary reason for Tapestry Lite is to increase
Tapestry adoption, then I think dependence on Servlet
API 2.3 should be seriously considered.

Most of the big companies invest lot of money in
application servers and they don't upgrade as quickly
as we want. I have personally omitted many frameworks
just because of servlet API 2.3 and I cannot use it in
my work even if I want to. I won't either agree to the
argument on forking Tapestry. I may need a feature
available in latest Tapestry release (like JSP
interoperation) but because of this dependence I will
have to curse myself and use an inferior framework.
(the latest version of Struts - 1.1 beta - is based on
Servlet API 2.2).

Conclusion : I don't want Servlet API 2.3 to be an
indirect limiting factor for wider adoption.

Just my 2 cents!
