Acoustic bands and no monitors is the way to go in my opinion; I prefer hearing the sound come from the house rather then the "immediate in your face" sound of monitors. Listening to the house makes me feel like I'm hearing the big picture that way. Also loud monitors screw up the way I attack (or is it maul) the instrument.
