A single editor ideal for *all* tasks is a less likely scenario than > a single editor for e-mail, news and such. That is why I pointed out that editing mail, news and several other functions are just, at the core ASCII editing. There are editors out there that have been developed for years that specialize in just ASCII editing. They can be tuned for the specific task at hand. For example, what is the difference between context highlighting text and context highlighting quotes? Nothing. The "quotes" are considered code comments and are highlighted accordingly. When you look at the base level and how to handle the data as ASCII editing with all the functions that are similar, you see that a "general editor for ASCII editing" doesn't fall prey to problems of mediocrity that multiple-application programs do. Why? Everything is focused on one thing, editing text. -- Steve C.
