Personally, I've never seen it go away automatically once it appears.
I've always had to hide it manually. The only difference is that in
previous versions, if you disconnected while the dial-up monitor was
displayed but disconnected using windows dial-up rather than TB!'s
dial-up monitor abort button, then the only way to get rid of the
dial-up monitor would be to shut down TB!. That problem has since
disappeared a version or two back.
