Same old argument Oleg! I am a Windows user and I like the GUI. I have
never used a Mac but one of my friends has it and it looks nice, too. I
haven't yet explored the deep and dark world of Linux, but what I've
seen of them, Linux programs have a decent GUI, too.
If I were to use a program for functionality alone, it would probably be
best be done in Dos. But I don't like Dos. Many others are like me.
I changed over to The Bat some years ago (yes, I'm not a new user)
because of its power. But I don't like using it. It does not have an
attractive or intuitive interface. I would rather use Becky 2 than the
Bat for that very reason (and do). My only gripe against Becky 2 is
that its PGP implementation is not as good as The Bat's and that was the
reason I chose to move from OE in the first place. Becky 2 has many of
the features I've seen in Bat wish lists (external editor option,
proportional AND fixed fonts, newsreader capability by plug-in, advanced
and repairable threading, a decent inbuilt editor, etc.).
What I really want is TB's power added to the *type* of interface Becky
2 has.
Nor need a decent interface take up much RAM. Look at Mail Warrior
(which fits on a single floppy and so can be transported easily).
But I fear what I might end up with is Becky 2 using PGP from the PGPnet
icon, as I feel much more at home there. The Bat is a good program,
used by power uses everywhere; why can't those of us who are not such
power users have the option of using its power with a better interface
that is more Windows-like.
Sorry for the diatribe...I said I wouldn't join in again and I have.
