You may have an automatic forward set on your mail server.

Turn off TB, have a message sent to you, and see whether it arrives at
your friend's.

No, it sounds like she your you POP data set up in her OL. She is
actually checking your email (but leaving messages on server).

Check this possibility out. REmember that OL is able to check more
than one POP accounts, so she is probably checking her own account
just fine, and your in addition.
