i used WinGate for some months (if we are talking about "DeerField's). the best way is to use no proxies.. Install it on the server and install "Wingate Internet Connection Client" to other machines and do not make any modifications to clients, that proggy will handle everything and your machine will work just like dialup connection without any proxy, ip setting etc. My other suggection is this: run the DNS server of wingate always :) and also i can suggest to use wingate's DHCP server, manual ip configuration is also enough. what you should keep in mind is that: "WinGates Server for it's client must be running. i do not remember it's name but it is running at default. and also you must check accesibility options of that server. adjust it such that it can be connectable from lan but not from internet. -- ..
