It could just be a broken connection. The server hasn't got the DEL
command, yet, and therefore hasn't deleted the mails, which will be
send to you again next time.

More likely is a very big mail - most often a virus-containing one -
which takes too long to transfer. The connection is then closed (time
out) and everything starts anew next time.

The remedy in both cases is the same: Use the Mail Dispatcher and
delete already received (and others if you want) mails.
