I for one wouldn't use a Usenet forum for help any more. I had so much
hassle with some people on Usenet that I dumped it and the software
that I used and no longer even visit the groups where I had friendly
contacts.

Usenet is rife with spam and with trolls and there is no way of
keeping them out of a newsgroup unless it is on a closed server with
password/user access. Forums have much greater control in that on many
boards visitors who cause a nuisance can be banned - you can't do that
in Usenet.
